Your Go-To Place For Things Health

Ergonomics

Ergonomics in the workplace is crucial to mitigating health risks and increasing productivity. Prolonged sitting in front of a computer or any other positions cause physical stress on the body and nervous system. We are trained to evaluate your work stations and make suggested corrections based upon your job, posture and habits. We’ll even show you how to work your core and get stronger while you are sitting or standing at work.

Work station set up, climate temperature, sound and lighting all make a difference to your health, energy and productivity level. The most common health problems we see that significantly reduce an employee’s productivity are headaches, migraines, carpal tunnel syndrome, neck and lower back pain, hip and knee pain, pinched nerves, sciatica and tension across the shoulders. Ergonomic assessments you can directly increase work performance and employee satisfaction, improve workers’ overall health and reduce sick days and put more money in everyone’s pocket. Health is more than what you eat and how much you exercise.

Our individual assessments are comprised of the following:

1. Survey employee work stations and work environment to assess what immediate factors may be contributing to a less productive station.(For example: If the client is using specific materials repetitively throughout the day, it is important that those materials are easily accessible without causing poor repetitive postural habits, which increase the likelihood of injury.)

2. Assessment of general health and body type of the employee to get an idea of the client’s height, weight and any pre-existing health concerns or conditions (i.e.: disc problems, spinal stenosis, knee pain, hip pain, pinched nerves, carpal tunnel, sciatica, etc…). Pre-existing health conditions are extremely important to address when doing an ergonomic assessment since it may require special attention.

3. Recommendations are made for each employee based on their needs as well as an overall suggestive summary for the Human Resources department. We leave you with clear instructions on what changes need to be made individually or as a group. Some of those changes can be done immediately on site without purchasing anything, while others require purchasing furniture, special keyboard, mouse, etc.
